WRT1900acs V2 and WRT32X questions

Post by Icestation »

Skip to the bottom if you don't want to listen to all my over explaining lol.

So I have 2x 1900acsV2's (For the shop)
1st one has been running a custom 1.9.1 from lantis from a long time ago, it has some wifi problems needs reset every week or so, but it has been running everything we need wired well. I have a so many quota and static dhcp stuff in it, I don't want to upgrade it without having a backup.

The second one I just got to be the backup, and I put 1.10.x from lantis 3-24-18 build. Hoping for better wifi stability. I am going to be replacing the 1st one with it. (wish there was an easy export DHCP and quota settings to load into new versions)
So what is the most stable 1.10 for the 1900acs? I have seen lantis is the WRT guru, but I imagine is busy with more important things.

These 1900's are mainly for quota management as we are on a satellite connection at the shop, we have a lot of wifi clients and a couple of servers doing all kinds of stuff including DNS.

Last I just picked up a WRT32X really cheap for personal use (home) to replace my wndr4300-currently running 1.11.X (Built 20180708-1249) I don't get to sophisticated with networking but I want to start dabbling in VPN stuff for privacy online. I am curious how 1.11.x is running on it, I plan on a large external drive attached, any recommendations esata or USB3? whats faster in gargoyle.

Sorry for so much explaining, I figure it would be better to know a little about what I am trying to accomplish.
Recap
1. Best (most stable) 1.10 version for 1900acs V2?, or is 1.11 already better?
2. Best Build to run on WRT32x?

It is possible to copy DHCP assignments (and some other stuff) from your old backup using WinSCP.

1. I'd choose 1.11x (I'm using it with my WRT1200)
2. They (1.11x from ispy & lantis) are pretty much the same

Thanks for the link, I will do some reading.
And thats a vote for 1.11, so far it is great on my wndr4300.

One more related topic (about copying data):

It might be not possible to copy everything from 1.10.x to 1.11x, you should check targed format first. Anyway, I'm copying quite a lot of data (like IPs and white-listed MACs).
