Linksys WRT1200AC

Post by pjbnospam »

Hi All,

Trying to flash my Linksys WRT1200AC. The problem is that apparently the router has 2x1300 MHZ CPU's and 256MB RAM and 128MB Flash. (This is from the box it came in. Is there any way to check?)

This doesn't match any of the routers listed on the supported routers page:

The V1 Caiman routers on that page have 2 x 1300Mhz CPU's but more RAM. The V1 Mamba routers have the correct RAM but the CPU's don't match. (ie: 2 x 1200 Mhz)

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Compare FCC ID to wikidevi site to double check it is indeed a WRT1200AC.
Then use Caiman.

I ended up using the Caiman V1 software and it's all good.

Weird though: I checked the linksys site and it says the Version 1 has dual 1300MHz CPU's, *256MB RAM* and 128MB Flash.
So that agrees with what's on the box the router came in. The Linksys native software doesn't give any RAM figures, so can't report on that.

When I install Gargoyle V1 Caiman, it's reporting 512MB RAM.

The site is wrong.
Consult their official notification to the FCC which states 512.

Regardless, does it matter?

Not to me, it's now working but it might to someone trying to work out the correct software to install!

As the router has two partitions, is it possible that it may have only 256MB ram dedicated to each partition thus making a total of 512MB? In that case, the linksys website and the information printed on the box the router came in could be reflecting that when they both say the router has 256MB of RAM.
