Linksys WRT3200ACM wifi issues

Post by kiwiandy »

I have been using a Linksys WRT19000ACS v2 for about 10 months with Gargoyle v9.x quite successfully, until it had a fit and died. I couldnt flash it with an image no matter what happened, and the stock Linksys firmware on the other partition was very flakey as well.
I decided to replace it with a WRT3200ACM as it was the newer/better version.. so I thought.
However within a day of getting it and flashing Gargoyle 10.x ( i also restored the backup from the WRT1900) I found there appears to be a wifi issue, which only seems to come right with a reboot, usually 3-4 reboots a day are required. The wifi signal is still available but the device password is not recognised by the Router, and doesnt allow connection.

1. Don’t restore backups from different devices. You should reset the router to default and set it up again to check this isn’t the issue
2. That particular device has wifi issues at a driver level depending on what clients you have and whether the day ends in “y”

Hi I am sorry to say that Gargoyle cant fix the WI-FI on the wrt3200acm until we moov to building on top of the LEDE code bace, which is being worked on at the moment. I cant give you a ETA. I have a 3200 and running it as just a router and use a C7v2 as a dumb AP which works grate for me. If you don't have a old router you could use as a AP for a wile you can try flashing LEDE and then come back to using Gargoyle when the LEDE version comes out. One of the best builds of LEDE for the 3200 is here.

I guess you guys are already across this, but it seems the Stock linksys firmware for the WRT3200ACM has the same issue with Wi-Fi failing. Seems its related to android devices connecting to the router. more infor here:

I guess it must be hardware related if it causes problems in both stock firmware and Gargoyle as well?

How is progress with the LEDE code base? I really miss my gargoyle router :(

I dont know how it's going with the moov to LEDE or now OPENWRT as LEDE and OPENWRT are back together now.
OPENWRT does not have the latest WIFI drivers for the wrt3200acm yet.
