Netgear wnd3700v2

Post by Opale7000 »

Hello

I am considering installing gargoyle on my netgear router. Still need to ensure what is the current factory firmware version. Now there are so many versions of gargoyle I do not know we’re to start.

Another concern is that my isp modem is using 192.168.2.1 and forced my netgear to use ip 10.0.0.1

Is this an issue with installing gargoyle?

Thanks

Gargoyle will default to 192.168.1.1, but you are free to change this after installation.

Great do I simply do factory or need to do both?

Also is in not better to start with version 1.8 stable?
(I think I may be confusing 1.10 meaning version one point one.)

Also if for any reason, is it easy to return to netgear factory firmware? Looking forward to Gargoyle however.

Thanks

1.8 is quite old now, 1.9.2 would be newer. But 1.10 (read: one dot ten) is the latest and greatest. Well, apart from Ispy's 1.10.X from the "Show / Tell / Contribute" thread, that is.

And no, you don't need both versions. It depends on the state your router is in. If it is still running stock firmware, use the factory image. It's the same software version as sysupgrade, but has some different properties to be accepted by the stock upgrade program. If your router is already running OpenWRT, Lede or Gargoyle, use the sysupgrade image.

I'm writing this for anyone wondering how Gargoyle 1.10.0 (which is built on OpenWRT Chaos Calmer) runs on the Netgear WNDR3700v2.

I was having issues that devices were dropping out on the stock Netgear firmware V1.0.1.14. I installed the Gargoyle (factory) image straight over the stock Netgear firmware using the builtin tool. After the install, I left my laptop on for the day and viewed the Universal Telelmetry Client log in windows. There wasn't a single drop out, so I'm very happy.
