TP-Link Archer C7 v2

Post by DroopyBits »

Hi
I have been having some weirdness with my C7v2. It is currently running 1.9.1. I'd like to reflash it to 1.9.2. If I use the factory.bin:

https://www.gargoyle-router.com/downloa ... actory.bin

instead of the upgrade will that cause any problems? Or do I need to first restore it to TP link firmware, then flash?

Thanks

Shouldn't cause a problem. But neither would sysupgrade.

Thanks
I want a clean slate, rather than an upgrade from something I don't trust.

So I'll just upload the factory.bin to
https://192.168.1.1/update.sh

and should be good to go?

Flashing with 1.9.2 factory seemed to go fine.
Didn't fix my weirdness though. oh well.

Let's talk weirdness then.

Thanks for the follow up.
I suspect it's something to do with Optus, rather than the router. The short story is that when my Optus issued modem is bridged, I get slow speeds through my gargoyle router (sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's slow). It worked fine for years, but in the last week or so it's been bad (~1Mbps on a ~5Mbps adsl line). I have not been able to diagnose it on the router. My second last option was to flash it to a new firmware, which I've done and it's made no difference.

So I have now fallen back to my last option, which is to put the C7 in the DMZ. Things are back to normal now.

Easiest way to get Gargoylle is to install dd-wrt webrevert on to C7 from the administrator's gui and do a gargoyle sysupgrade.bin.

TP-Link Archer C7 v2

Post by rnc80 »

I have only updated firmware before so relatively new to this. I want to install Gargoyle so I can track my kids data usage by IP/MAC address over my monthly ISP cycle.

I have the TP-Link Archer C7 V2. My router has firmware version 3.13.34 Build 131217 Rel 60903n.

From all I have read here that firmware version appears old enough that it would allow me to install without all the difficulties described elsewhere with newer firmware versions that block flashing correct?

What file/version would be the best (radios working/no problems) to flash in my situation?

Thanks
