D link DIR 300

Hi, little help needed. =)

So sorry to post here - am at my wits end.

I've got an old Dlink DIR 300, P/N IIR300EEU....A1G
F/W Ver 1.03

I want to install gargoyle on it, read on this forum that you can use putty and jounin's telnet to do it.

For the life of me, I've spent about 5 days trying and it doesn't work. =(

I'm not an IT guru by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm wondering if there were some simple step by step instructions to help me

Basically, when I start up putty, it times out after 5 seconds, and when I finally put in the 'load ap61.rom, press enter' and then do the same with 'go', nothing happens.

The telnet client just sits there like its waiting for the christmas turkey to be basted and short of smashing this router to bits out of frustration, there's nothing much else i can do. =(

This router is End of Life

Flashing can be tricky, I ended up using a serial cable
