Ubiquiti support for Gargoyle

Post by ispyisail »

Hi

I've just received a Ubiquiti bullet2

I can flash it with ROBIN and "Ubnt air OS" .bin files in ubnt recovery mode. I tryed "fon flash" but I think reboot is locked.
This is the how-to http://robin-mesh.wik.is/Howto/Install/Page_Title

Is there any chance of installing gargoyle with this method?

Ah, yes. It is possible, but I haven't uploaded the proper firmware for that device. It gets built when Gargoyle builds (by the openwrt build process), but I haven't been uploading it since I haven't heard anyone express interest in this device until now. I've uploaded appropriate bleeding-edge firmware for this device, which you can download here.

Please note, I haven't actually tried using this firmware, as I don't own one of these devices. My inability to actually test it is another reason I hadn't uploaded the firmware until now.

I thought i had better try it out

Everything seams to work, damn this a good piece of software

My only complain is that you can't adjust the wireless power settings. The "ubnt air OS" firmware has all kinds of buttons and knobs for this. Other than that Gargoyle blows it away.

hello. My regards to the author for this great work.

Is it possible to have an updated version of gargoyle for ns2, please?

NS2 have 2 antennas; is it possible to implement option to choose the right antenna? Using openwrt it is possible using the "option antenna" in the wireless configuration file. Valid values are external, horizontal, vertical, auto.

Thanks

Best regards

You can download the latest nanostation2 build here.

I'm reluctant to add support for adjusting the antennas in the interface because this tends to be somewhat device specific, and I'd like to keep the interface as hardware agnostic as possible. Also this is a fairly advanced feature, and I want to keep the interface relatively simple so as not to intimidate users with less technical knowledge. I may eventually implement a separate advanced or misc. options sections where I can put this, but it's not a particularly high priority.

However, there's no reason you can't login via SSH and adjust these parameters manually. That's the beauty of having an interface based on top of OpenWrt -- anything not in the GUI can easily be configured manually via SSH.

Greetings friends.

You tell me how to install the gb5.1-experimental-atheros-ubnt2.bin in my naostation2.

I installed kamikaze 8.09 with x-wrt and I'm not an expert on linux.

I have to do to install Gargoyle in nanostation2.

thanks.

Can you please tell me as to upgrade to beta 5.

At the option of update indicates that there are two files that I need to update and which are not.
