the annoying 'too many redirects'

Post by pyed »

Hi, if you're Mac/iOS user && use Safari && your Gargoyle is 1.6.X: you'll suffer from random error 'too many redirects accrued trying to open 192.168.1.1'

using 'https' won't help, as a Mac user who uses safari, this is annoying, if someone found a way around this error please share it, Thank you

I've never encountered this error on my Mac (Safari, Opera, or Firefox) or Safari on iPhone. My router is running 1.6.1.
QoS Tip: Don't complicate your QoS settings. Gargoyle evenly splits available bandwidth between active devices as needed. Just delete all your classification rules and leave only one normal service class and you're done. No more arguing over bandwidth.

that's weird, maybe it's happening on some routers ? little search will show some replies talking about the same issue with 1.6.x and safari, for me, after downgrading back to 1.5.x it's gone.

Mavericks, Gargoyle 1.6.1. Same issue. Hope there is a fix. I prefer Safari over Chrome on OSX.

Did anyone work out what's causing this? I can't administer things from my phone (Safari on iOS) because of it. Elsewhere on the forum someone suggested clearing all browsing data/cache etc on the device, but it barely works for a minute or so before I get the error again; and I really don't want to clear things everytime I need to do something.

I have other issues in ios safari like not being able to navigate to certain pages. Until it's fixed try Chrome for ios.
