OpenVPN Running, Not Connected

Post by Alan_smithee »

couldn't find the answer in the forum could anyone help?

Installed 1.5.9 on my WNDR3700 v2 Netgear router

Restore Default Configuration even remove /etc/openvpn/current_status
Tried it on latest chrome an IE9

It gives me the warning that it could take 5-10 minutes but then immediately takes me back the page. The status running not connected never changes even after 8 hours. download config gives me the error
ERROR: Client ID does not exist.

No heavy CPU or Memory load
No feedback thought syslog-ng

Any help will be appreciated.

Edit:
also tried various OpenVPN Ciphers no result

I configured my router as an openvpn server.

Maybe the title is confusing but I thought that even thought none of the clients are connected the openvpn status would be "running, connected"

The problem is that I can't get any Credentials & Config Files because it seems that creating the necessary cryptographic parameters doesn't work.

Today after rebooting my router I got the first error message from my syslog.

Options error: In [CMD-LINE]:1: Error opening configuration file: /etc/openvpn/server.conf

The only file in that folder is 'current_status'

You have setup your gargoyle router as a openVPN server. How or what are you using to try and connect to it?

My android phone, tablet with the official OpenVPN app.
It needs a pkcs12 file.

The router doens't create the needed files. When I click download the credentials and config files it jumps to a page
http://192.168.1.1/utility/openvpn_down ... id=htc_evo

with the error
ERROR: Client ID does not exist.

That was the information that was missing

The problem is more likely with your android phone and not gargoyle

find a windows PC install OpenVPN 2.3_rc2 -- released on 2012.12.18

http://openvpn.net/index.php/open-sourc ... eases.html

Once we prove the problem is with the client then we can more onto your phone

I am having this exact same error but I am running a TP-Link TL-WR1043N. I have tried versions 1.5.5-1.5.9 and all of them say that the encryption sequence will take 5-10 minutes and immediately jumps back to the page.

OpenVPN status is Running, Not connected and when I click the download credentials button it just says Error Client ID does not exist.

Are there any other setting that can be changed or should I not touch anything when saving changes?

How can I test it on another computer/device if the necessary files aren't generated by the router?

could you maybe send the data of the files that are in the directory /etc/openvpn
/etc/config/openvpn
/etc/config/openvpn_gargoyle ?

I hope to find the answer in there
