Restore Default Configuration not working?

Post by ispyisail »

Hi all

1.5.X (Built 20120124-1936 git@e561233)
tp-link 1043

I have double checked and "Restore Default Configuration" does not appear to be working?

There were same strange things happening with Tor so I decided to a "Restore Default Configuration" and double check.

I might go back to 1.5.2 and check "Restore Default Configuration" works with that build

update

I tried to downgrade to 1.5.2 but that also was broken

I've reset my router using failsafe and I suspect that it will work perfect now?

I need to add that I removed the "-N" switch to keep setting after upgrade and I suspect that this might have broken something

How do you make your "Restore Default Configuration"?
I am not able to find this ability in the Gargoyle webinterface.
Router: TL-WR1043ND - Gargoyle 1.5.4
AP: TL-WR1043ND - Gargoyle 1.5.4

re:original post

I suspect Tor was also enabled

My hypotheses is if you enable "tor" and upgrade with "-N" removed bad things happen?

Knew that I had seen it before, but could not find it this time.

The restore and the upgrade parts do not have anything to do with each other. So the removal of -n in /www/utility/do_upgrade.sh should make no difference in the restore process.

Restore Default Configuration makes a simple restore of:
/etc/original_backup/backup.tar.gz

I am going to make some tests tomorrow.
Router: TL-WR1043ND - Gargoyle 1.5.4
AP: TL-WR1043ND - Gargoyle 1.5.4

Sorry to relive an old thread but this bug is still around.

Tested latest 1.5.7 build on a WZR-HP-G300N and it won't reset to default even though it tries to.

It dosen't work properly either.

failsafe or mtd -r erase root_fs command go through the reset routine but doesn't work as designed.

Router comes back up but not the firstboot.sh screen, can't access with default password, changed password over telnet and can then access and a few other strange things are happen also.

Don't know what's wrong but this same thing happens on a wzr-hp-g300n and a tl- wr841nd.

I've seen a few posts about people having password problems?

what about 1.5.6 or below? "failsafe" always worked for me.

never had much luck with restore defaults
