Post by zephak »

Need help PLEASE: I Installed Gargoyle on a new Ubiquiti Router Staion Pro:
I Downloaded gargoyle_1.3.13-ar71xx-ubnt-rspro-squashfs-factory.bin
I have a WinXp running tftp, I assigned the computer a static IP of 192.168.1.200, and connected with a Cat5e cable to the WAN port of the RSPro.
I had a windows cmd window open with tftp -i 192.168.1.12 PUT gargoyle_1.3.13-ar71xx-ubnt-rspro-squashfs-factory.bin
held reset
plugged in power
while Another cmd window running ping -t 192.168.1.12 started with Replies

and hangs forever.

I have on Atheros G card, , had it in the 0 slot, moved it to 1 and 2.
No Good. I have tried IE, Firefox, Chrome.
Need help with suggestions on where to go next. BTW, when Kamikaze was running on the router, the card was 'seen' when browsing to 192.168.1.20. I also have the box configured at the dot 20 address at this time. :?:

Switching from clean OpenWrt to Gargoyle a couple of weeks ago, I must admit the wireless setup isn't so simple since the Web interface doesn't report back what is the right channel should be set up.
You must have Putty (Or winScp) on yr PC then run command - wifi. You will get the feedback here from which channels are allowable with yr choice of band width.

Trying using WinSCP, I attempt to logon to host 192.168.1.20, port 22, user root, with the router password ******, Gargoyoe UI has port 22 open for SSH.
Message:
Cannot initialize sftp, is the host running a sftp server?

Is WinSCP the way to connect to this RSPro, with Gargoyle UI?
The goal is to get WIFI to work as the UI just hangs when wireless is turned on.

I Changed the file protocol to scp and I was able to log on.

Now I just need to get the info for wifi. I need a friendly suggestion for where to find it in the tree.

Check /ect/config/wireless

Section radio0 or radio1

config 'wifi-device' 'radio0'
option 'type' 'mac80211'
option 'macaddr' 'c0:3f:0e:7b:xx:xx'
option 'hwmode' '11ng'
list 'ht_capab' 'SHORT-GI-40'
list 'ht_capab' 'TX-STBC'
list 'ht_capab' 'RX-STBC1'
list 'ht_capab' 'DSSS_CCK-40'
option 'distance' '300' <--- option
option 'htmode' 'HT40-' <--- here
option 'disabled' '0' <--- here
option 'noscan' '1' <--- here
option 'channel' '8'
option 'txpower' '17' <--- here
option 'country' 'US' <--- here

http://www.ubnt.com/wiki/RouterStation_ ... ing_Radios
Says:
Access point configuration is stored in the file /etc/config/wireless. Power off the RouterStation, insert some Ubiquiti 802.11a/b/g card(s), and power the device back up. The /etc/config/wireless file will now contain configuration sections for each radio it has found. For security reasons, these new AP configurations are always disabled by OpenWRT by default. This prevents someone using a settings reset (sometimes called "factory reset" or hard reset) to gain access to your network...

So, I have the atheros card in slot 0, I power up and the /etc/config/wireless
has no content...Any suggestions on next step??
