Missing kernel module

Post by Joil »

Hello everyone,
I upgraded recently using gargoyle_1.12.0-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v3-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
I tried to install the Webcam plugin (ver 20130630-1), but it does not install, and the syslog records:
Wed May 13 10:11:09 2020 daemon.err uhttpd[6962]: ERROR: Dependency kmod-video-uvc of package plugin-gargoyle-webcam cannot be found, try updating your package lists
I've searched in /lib/modules/4.9.198 and it definitely isn't present, and I've updated the package lists as instructed.
  • Should it come as part of the base firmware, or should it be packaged with the plugin?
  • Is there any place I could obtain the appropriate kmod-video-uvc.ko
  • If not, would it be a reasonable thing for me to try to compile the kernel or plugin myself? Are there any tutorials available?
Many thanks,
Joil

Switch all of the OpenWrt related package repositories to HTTPS so that you can download them.
You might be able to force install the kernel module from there, but it won't be kernel compatible so it may not work or be very unstable.

The best method will be to build your own firmware.
