Port forwarding for torrents?

I'm running 1.9.X (Built 20160831-0534 git@fb09487) on a Linksys WRT1900ACS.

I have a port forwarding rule set in the Firewall section of the Gargoyle interface:

protocol: both
from port: 52434
to IP: 192.168.1.155
to port: 52434

and have told rtorrent (running locally on 192.168.1.155 ) to use port 52434 as the listening port for incoming connections. But rtorrent still reports port 52434 as being closed.

Is there something further I need to do? Or some stupid mistake I've made?
