separate ap in wireless repeater mode`

Post by baojia »

hello, i am new to gargoyle, changed from dd-wrt, i have a question about wireless repeater mode. in fact, it works perfect with default value. the base ap is a linksys wrt54g without encyption, but now i have a dir-300 with gargoyle, and i want it to work in repeater mode and in wpa2 aes, is it possible? or i have to edit the config file of openwrt manuelly? thanks

I think yes, it's possible.

Try to switch your Linksys WRT54GL to WPA2-PSK (AES)
And than use Repeater to repeat its signal.

I was testing similar scheme with WPA-PSK.
And it was working. But both routers were using (same) Atheros chipset.

thanks for the reply, in fact the wrt54g v7 i couldn't change the configuration, and i would like to use them in different encyption methods, it means base ap open, repeater with a different ssid and wpa2 aes.
