TL-WR1043ND V2 - Gargoyle 1.6.2 to stock firmware

Post by VAMET »

Dear Friends

I own TL-WR1043ND V2 with Gargoyle 1.6.2 firmware. I would like to ask, how should I back to stock firmware again?

I have found in the installation guide on this website:
Revert Back Original Firmware

The hardest part to reverting back to the original firmware is finding a suitable file. You can not use the firmware from TP-Link without a file modification.

Luckily somebody has done the work for us

wr1043nv1_en_3_9_17-sysupgrade.zip
I would like to know, if it will work also with my TL-WR1043ND V2?

EDIT

It it safe to use file TL-WR1043ND-V2-stripped.zip from Back to original firmware section?

Thank you in advance for your help and support.

Sincerely
VAMET

Hi there yes the TL-WR1043ND-V2-stripped.zip should be ok mate.

Can i ask why you want to flash back to stock? The Gargoyle you have on your router now is a old version. The latest 1.9.1 has had a lot of bugs squashed and a few things added to like the addblock plug-in. If you have a issue it would be safer to try and flash to 1.9.1 to see if it is fixt. If you have any questions pleas don't hesitate to ask!

It's only for training purpose :) ...nothing else. I would like to have upgrade from 1.6.2 to 1.9.1, but from 1.6.2 there wasn't any fix for bandwidth problem. I have 250/20Mbps and with 1.6.2 I use all bandwidth without problem, when in newer versions I can only use 180/20Mbps, so this 70Mbps more I cannot use, so I am still a 1.6.2 user. In 1.9.1 may I choose channel 13 without any reghack?

Also I cannot back to stock firmware, because for example, when I download games from Steam, TL-WR1043ND V2 hangs after few minutes of working with full bandwidth and I need to reboot. That was the main reason, why I installed Gargoyle 1.6.2. There was a fix in stock firmware for this issue, but only for TL-WR1043ND V1.

Hi mate I am sorry you can not use channel 13 without any reghack as far as I know. As for not getting full bandwidth I am not sure about that either as I only have 70 down and 6 up here. I think it depends on your routers CPU.

Yes, it is possible after few commands in ssh

I have no problem in 1.6.2 to have c.a. 250/20Mbps, but in 1.9.1 I have below 200/20Mbps. I don't know, why there is a problem in 1.9.1 and there is none in 1.6.2.

Reason: Instruction removed. Preferred not to openly discuss that method on the board.
