From Gargoyle -> OpenWRT

Post by tplinkuser »

Hello,
My Router is TP-Link TLMR3220 v2
My device is supported for OpenWRT.
I am currently on Gargoyle 1.8.1(stable)

Can someone tell me how to switch to OpenWRT?
I mean, am I supposed to flash the openwrt firmware from Gargoyle GUI or have to flash it from bootloader.

Please Provide a step by step guide. Thanks in advance

True about going to LEDE, too? Since the stable for it is out now, I want to see what it's like.

Yes should be the same.
But... LEDE has added some metadata and other checks to their sysupgrade images. Gargoyle doesn't have these.
You may need to do a "sysupgrade -F" to force it.
I don't expect this to be an issue for Gargoyle->LEDE, but going back the other way definitely.

Oh, good to know! I'll read up on that command when coming back, as I haven't had to flash from the command-line before.

Read the openwrt wiki page for your specific device.
