Router + HDD

Post by zulis »

Hello,

I have successfully installed Gargoyle 1.3.5 + samba3 + ntfs-3g on mine wzr-hp-g300ng. I have connected Buffalo DriveStation external hard drive and I can access mine files. If I connect this external drive to PC and don’t use it for about 5 minutes hdd goes to “sleep” mode and wakes up immediately when I use it. If I connect it to the router, then hdd never goes to “sleep” mode and it's always active. I don’t like it. Do You know how to fix it? Thanks.

Check that thread on OpenWRT about sleep mode

May have to install some external packages to get it to work.

I'll try this myself and see if I can get it to work.

Currently running 1.3.7 on a WZR-HP-G300NH
 Soylent Green Is People!

2x Engenius - ESR900 Stock 1.4.0 / OpenWRT Trunk 49400

Thanks in advise DoesItMatter, but I'm getting errors with hdparm. So I used package hd-idle

Code: Select all

opkg install hd-idle
hd-idle -i 300
that does the trick! :) Here 300 is seconds.
