Using the Linsys WRT160NL as a wifi bridge

Post by kogychan »

Hi and sorry for the bad English that will follow :)

I recently acquired a Linksys WRT160NL on eBay for a good price.

I'd like to use as a WIFI Brisge and I read that the included firmware didn't allowe it.

Does the Gorgoyle Firmware do the job ? :)

To be precise, here what I plan to do.

I have my provider internet wifi router in my main room. The signal is stong enough to reach all my rooms, so I don"t need a "repeater"....
But, I configure my computers in another room and from time to time (especially by Linux installs when the wifi drivers aren't in the install ISO) I'd like to connect my machines on internet thru their ethernet port.
The wrt160nl isn't used as a repeater, neither as an AP... but i'd like it to communicate with the main router thru WIFI and just connect my machines on the ethernet ports.

Is it working ?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers from France :)
