[Solved] Gargoyle build for WDR4900 possible?

Post by bouwew »

Solved, see below.

I want to try to make a Gargoyle-image for my WDR4900 (mpc85xx).
Is that at all possible? Can I just follow the documentation: install the necessary pacakges, clone from git and run Make custom? Or do I need to make some modifications to the build scripts?

P.S. I'm running Debian 7.8 amd64.

Previous comments removed. Restarted build.

Update 1: failed twice at downloading gmp-6.0.0a.tar.xz
Downloaded the file manually to the Downloaded directory and (re)started by "make custom" after "make clean".

Update 2: failed again:

"MD5 sum of the downloaded file does not match (file: b2e23b153fad3034ec48336f81eefd33, requested: 18869d16db3f49c053f8c68eba3fe2e0) - deleting download.
--2015-02-10 21:05:57-- http://downloads.sourceforge.net/nfs/nf ... .9.tar.bz2"

Downloaded and checked the file by hand this morning, MD5 is ok. Moved to the Downloaded directory as well, and restarted the Make.

Update 3: Success! Finally the build process ended without errors.
I flashed my WDR4900, login page came up OK.
Changed the settings for wireless, but unfortunately wifi doesn't come up.
Will troubleshoot later...

Update 4: got it (wifi) to work!
The problem was WPA enterprise didn't work, turns out I built the image with wpad-mini instead of wpad. Will be fixed in a next build. WPA/WPA2 PSK is being used for now.

For download link see the Show/Tell/Contribute part of the forum...

Neither v1 or v2 of this router are being actively built.
You can compile your own.

I tried to compile it for ar71xx by following documentation, but not success. It's hard to compile my own, if standard compilation does not work :( (error on haserl-i18n)

Forget, I compiled it successfully for mpc85xx (WDR4900v1), but disappointed because of unusable blocking functionality on https, so it is unable to block facebook etc. Thanks.
