Hi all,
I've been running gargoyle for a many years now on a buffalo wzr-hp-g300nh and its starting to have issues. I'm not sure if it's heat or aging components but I'm starting to look for a replacement. Is there an inexpensive router that at least matches the buffalo's specs, aliexpress or the like acceptable.

Another vote for the WDR3600, coming from a wzr-hp-g300nh owner. However you are going to need BB, 1.6.2 does not play well. Its been running solid since i installed the BB build posted in the 1.6.2 thread, but its just openwrt, no gargoyle yet.

I need something that runs Gargoyle as I have my network segmented and white-listed for my kids. I have a Parents group, a Teens group, a Kids group and an Everything else group with various levels of access.

I also use the SMB media drive

If you dont need super reliable wifi (some drop outs, i wouldnt game with it), the vote is still The $40-60 3400 or 3600 (100t vs gigabit switch) Even with gargoyle. Plus BB went final at the beginning of the month, so the gargoyle front end should be updated at any time.

If you google for "good openwrt router" the 3600 is always on the top 3 lists.

Other than that you can try to find a used or reconditioned WZR-HP-G450H.

You are not going to find a better openwrt router than the $60 wdr3600.

Hey you could do some research and figure out how to make openwrt work like gargoyle. Other than some fancy QOS stuff, they should be able to be configured the same. And BB has a worlds better interface than the old gui.

As a final recommendation, the netgear WNDR3700 is also excellent, but you have to find a v1 or v2, the rest are broadcom...

What happen to delink dir-835 ?

The 3600 has 8MB of flash though. How much space is left after Gargoyle is installed? I'm asking because on my G300nh I use DNSCrypt and install a couple of other things like Nano and TCPdump, and I'm concerned that 8MB might not be enough. I'd rather not use USB storage if necessary.

I recommend the WDR3600 as well. I'm having some problems with 1.6.2 though. Do you mean you installed OpenWRT with the latest BB over Gargoyle? How can I do that? And how to I flash back to Gargoyle after the BB build is released?

There are alot of bugs with 1.6.2 with this router (might want to roll back to 1.6.0 or even 1.5.11)
