1-here you have 2 options http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... f=5&t=4816
2-bad habit
3-don't ask for warrantee here, every one that's on third party FW should have serial cable and be prepare for a brick.
Listen to omiez that's a good proposal

Thank you danymarc for your answer.

I had a brick problem with my TL-WR841ND and had to wait a lot of time until my Nokia Cable arrived to unbrick.

Now that i know what i made wrong the best way to flash back is to cut the firmware upload it via WinScp and flash it with the mtd command.

Hello garyhome

Upload the file using Winscp in the /tmp folder of your router.

Connect with Putty and give this commands:

cd /tmp

mtd -r write /tmp/tplink.bin firmware

Every command at once hitting Enter.

Here is the link to the Cutted Firmware:

http://1drv.ms/1sedBjW

If it is not the last version just upgrade normally after flashing this one.

Omiez to let you know
I used your post to help kuruczfarm from DD-WRT forum and he was happy back to stock
interesting answer
I did the same. mtd write error However it reverted to stock fw after reboot
here http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 977#903977
I have a doubt, you uploaded a stripped FW with no boot, to be uploaded through WinScp
My question, what happens if he does it through web-ui, according to my logic it's the same, and it's clear to me that sometimes web-ui does not let you upload for whatever reason, as kuruczfarm case

Look, i don't know if we can flash back via Web Interface but to be sure i did not try it and will allways use the upload method because it worked several times without problem.

In DDWRT they have revert firmwares it would be a nice option on Gargoyle if this was possible.
