Well, I only have 100 dollars to spare and I have been looking at these routers. I ruled out netgear routers due to bad experiences in the past and recently, a issue with a newer netgear router I was going to set up for my parents. I am open to other suggestions as well. These are what I am looking at so far.

TP-LINK TL-WDR4300 - This router has 128MB RAM and 8MB flash. It runs on the Atheros AR9344 SoC at 560MHz.

BUFFALO WZR-600DHP - This router has 128 MiB RAM and 32MiB flash. It runs on the Atheros AR7161 SoC at 680MHz

They both have USB and gigabit ports.

My main usage is typically just wired. I rarely use Wireless and when I do it is usually in the same room as my modem/router. I need a router that has excellent wired performance.

The buff router is older than dirt, its a rebranded WZR-HP-AG300H, which is just a dual channel WZR-HP-G300NH, which has served me nicely for YEARS.

However since this is the dawn of AC wifi, i would go with a cheaper:
TP-Link TL-WR1043ND
32meg of ram
400mhz
gigabit switch
300mbs
replaceable antennas
$50.

Save your money for a newer router once the dust settles.
