I'm trying this with my 1043ND, and get to the point with putty where I enter:

Code: Select all

dd if=orig.bin of=tplink.bin skip=257 bs=512
And then the cursor drops to the next line, and just hangs there as a green rectangle. Eventually, I get a "network error" time out.

When I log back in with putty, the orig.img file is gone, and I'm stuck.

Am I missing a step? Or does this process not work with the 1043ND (V1)?

Under the return to oem firmware section someone has linked firmware that has already been modified. You might like to try those if it's not working for you.

Login putty with
Root
password: password

follow prompts as directed from previous entries...
I had to perform " chdir .. " to perform the steps correctly.

When finishing, I got a fatal error. (I guess this means it is done flashing tp link original firmware..)

Open browser window and open ip address 192.168.1.0

sign in with

pw: admin

change settings how you want from original firmware! :D

I am using a tplink - wr841nd v 9.2

in this topic I posted this link ftp://tplink-forum.pl/orgin_bez_boot/ and this one too http://www.friedzombie.com/tplink-stripped-firmware/ you have lots of Tp-Link stripped firmware, all you need is to download your version and through gargoyle interface upload it

I couldn't do anything on the router because everything was undefined. I had to enter the SSH connection and flash through that interface.

It sucked, but it worked.

I've got a problem.
I'm trying to revert to stock firmware because I found (I've got a Tl-MR3420) that every time I turn off the router the configuration I made lost. In addiction it's impossible for me to add the 3G connection in the "connection" menu (someone know how to do?).

However, I tried to install with web software the "https://www.gargoyle-router.com/downloa ... actory.bin" but nothing worked, I found after the reboot the gargoyle firmware.

So I tried the "cd tmp

dd if=orig.bin of=tplink.bin skip=257 bs=512

mtd -r write /tmp/tplink.bin firmware"

with the original firmware, but when it writes "writing from -------- to firmware" after few moments said me [e] Failed to erase block ...

I tried also with the "gargoyle_1.9.0-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3420-v2-squashfs-factory.bin", but it gives me always gargoyle....

May you help me?

you need the revert to factory firmware, I've looked at http://www.friedzombie.com/tplink-stripped-firmware/ for you and there are 2 for your router, depending if you have version 1 or 2;

http://www.friedzombie.com/tplink-strip ... -MR3420-V1 for V1 http://www.friedzombie.com/tplink-strip ... -MR3420-V2 for v2

these should take you back to stock firmware, just make sure you use the correct one

To answer your other query, your router only has 4mb of flash which is insufficient space for version 1.9.0 onwards. This is why your configuration isn't working.

We also can't fit USB support into that small space so that's why you couldn't set up 3G.

Please try firmwares from eko.one.pl which are stripped down and may work but they are older firmwares.

OMG, I've got a new problem. I don't know why, but this morning I wake up and the router's leds are now blinking (alternating the power led and ALL the leds).
I don't have wi-fi, f I try to plug in the ethernet cable, I don't found any.
Probably someone this morning did power off the router... whatever, any HOW-TO or suggestions?
