Which router is the best for gargoyle?

Hi every one,

I am new here and very lucky to find this website. Thank to Eric for your hard work :')

I am thinking to buy Lingsys wrt54gl but I have heard that ram has alway been used %95 all the time. Is that ok to use?

Which one you guy recommend me to buy(Considering to price and how easy to install a firmware as I am just basic user)?

Many thanks in advance ^^
Cheers

It depens on what you intend to do. I have trouble with using the WRT54GL under high load conditions (e.g. 10+ users all using torrent) and with QoS enabled. The router either crashes or starts killing processes randomly after a day or so.

I don't seem to have any troubles with the ASUS WL500GP V2.

Thanks for your comment FRiC ^^

I would like to limit a quota of usage and also BW priority as well. We have about 8-9 computer to share internet.

Now i am very interested in Asus WL500gp v2 as you said. I went to read the install_guide for it.

After read, I got something that I do not know what it is. It said "Once you are in diag mode you can use the windows utility to upgrade the firmware."

What is the windows utility? Where can I download it? and How is it use?

I also have another 2 choices for the router (plus Asus one).
1. Linksys WRT54G-TM
2. Linksys WRTSL54GS
3. Asus WL500GP v2 (seem to be the best for me, if I could find out the qestion above :')

Any suggestions? Could you plz also give me an idea how much of each router then I will try to nego with the shop base on that?

Many thanks again in advance.
Cheers ^^/

***Opp! something just come in mind, can gargoyle do set quota by timing as well? For example, during the peak period every one got 2 GB download then off peak period got 5GB. Is it possible to do that? :')

Hi there :P

I have just wonder which one is for Asus.

Could I use "gargoyle_1.0.14-wrt54g-squashfs.bin"

or

"gargoyle_1.0.14-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx" ?

I will use "ASUS Firmware Restoration Utility " to flash gargoyle.

Will wait for your expert
Many thanks :D

+++++++++++++++++++++++

I am sorry I can not wait. I choose "gargoyle_1.0.14-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx" and already flash. It seem work fine.

I will try around and get back to you guy soon.

Many thanks to Eric and all you guy help :')

Have a lovely day ^^
