Gargoyle + WNDR3700v1

Post by Flak »

I have what I think is a wndr3700v1 that I've never used. With gargoyle and my tp-link wr1043 not getting along very well anymore. I was wondering how the wndr3700v1 does on gargoyle?

I do see based on hardware specs it's got the same flash space, double the ram and a faster cpu.

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netgear/wndr3700

Use that page to determine version

Once you are sure, you can click on the Download section to
the left and choose the correct firmware to download

Just about anything on the OpenWRT wiki would also apply
to Gargoyle - you can use their information as well.

From my understanding and asumptions,,,,,,,,It appears the Eric suspects problems with ath9k wifi drivers?

From my undersatnd both devices suggested use the same wifi drivers?

I don't know, but from my experiences so far:

TP-Link WR1043 v1.8 + Gargoyle 1.4.x and 1.5.x = WiFi drop outs/inconsistent connectivity
TP-Link WR1043 v1.8 + OpenWRT RC5 = rock solid (RC6 not so great)

Netgear WNDR3700v1 + Gargoyle 1.5.x (haven't tried 1.4.x) = rock solid so far, was only up and about playing with WiFi for a couple hours. But it never dropped/devices never lost connectivity.

You could try this special build, to see if it fixes your problems (but it is experimental): http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... 8933#p8933
Router: TL-WR1043ND - Gargoyle 1.5.4
AP: TL-WR1043ND - Gargoyle 1.5.4

You're right, now that I've had more time with the wndr3700v1. It does have the same kind of problem I've been having with the tp-link. Instead of WiFi dropping, the clients stay connected but can't browse the network or the internet.

The "special" build has been working great on the WNDR3700v1. Haven't tried it on the tp-link wr1043 since the netgear seems to be much faster.

I did have to go around to my wireless devices and have them "forget" the network. But once I re-added it they've all been solid.
