My second used Linksys router bit the dust after 3 days of use.

It appears the tested router list page has gone stale. Does anyone know of a router that you can buy brand new with 1gig ports that has been tested with Gargoyle?

Sure do appreciate Gargoyle, and those who are trying to keep it going.

Was able to score a couple of brand new TP link routers. I've bought these from the Gargoyle store before and they work well. Is the label on the router enough to determine which V2 TP link firmware to download?

Thank you Lantis! The V2 part was easy, but it seemed there were a few flavors of V2 so thanks for posting the links.

I don't have the same 1000Mb requirements as the originial, but I have the same question.

Currently running on X86 after my WDR4300 seemed to periodically misbehave. Current system is rock solid - it just works and I forget it is there.

Only problem is we have occaisional periods of intermittient power - brief outages or flickering that is enough to restart a pc. This started me down the path of a UPS and now I'm looking for a modern low power router that ideally runs garoyle.
I bought a Mikrotik RB750 GR3 to look at (that was the other candidate before landing on Gargoyle as a router) mainly to play with and also to put OpenWRT on it. I also note the comments that if it runs OpenWRT then it "probably" runs Gargoyle which is another possible project?

Question - is it feasible to get Gargoyle on the Mikrotik?
and is it worth it, or is there a better option?

Thanks.

I’m not sure if it’s speed capability, but it should work.
We already build the mt7621 arch so you just need to “turn it on” and build it.

Hi
Sorry, not getting the meaning here?
By "build it" you mean build an image?

Is there a guide to what's needed for Gargoyle.

I've had a look at the process on OpenWRT and am happy to work through the steps, but I realise there is a lot I don't know about it and looks like a steep learning curve! Any clues appreciated.

Cheers

https://github.com/ericpaulbishop/gargo ... /README.md

Instead of making ar71xx.usb_large, use ramips.mt7621 instead.
If the build finishes successfully and images are generated, modify the config at targets/ramips/profiles/mt7621/config and turn on the following lines

Code: Select all

# CONFIG_TARGET_DEVICE_ramips_mt7621_DEVICE_mikrotik_rb750gr3 is not set
# CONFIG_PACKAGE_kmod-gpio-beeper is not set
Add "-mikrotik_rb750gr3-" to targets/ramips/profiles/mt7621/images

Then "make ramips.mt7621"

If you have a target already being built by Gargoyle (like in this case) it is trivial to get it built. If you report that it works for you, i'll add it to the official repository.
