Best wifi gargoyle Router

Post by cobra98 »

What are the best wifi Router with gargoyle support,
working with smartdevices?
In the past WRT32X and WRT3200ACM where recommended but for now it seems 2.4 GHZ is buggy also country code is hard coded to France!
So before i use a second router just for b+g i will plan to upgrade to different wifi router with no such problems.

I repurposed an old HP computer to pfSense as the main router and now use Tp-link C7 C5 as an access point, running the latest Gargoyle firmware. It is very stable and very happy with this new network, which allows me to have Vlans so I can separate the less secured devices, IoT, on my network from the LAN. :D :?

Maybe Turris Omnia?
I use this router - but I only recommend it for advanced users who have a serial cable on hand. It also has a hardware limitation of LEDs - otherwise very good in performance, WiFi cards in the mini PCIe slot can be changed to stronger (for Gargoyle only with support for atheros 9K and 10K drivers) and an mPCIe SSD can be inserted into the free slot. To sum it up and not look at the design, it is a very powerful 2x core router with mvebu architecture.

I have the linksys wrt32x and it works great. I dont use wireless on it. I recommend splitting your wireless features off onto separate hardware and using gargoyle on the main gateway/router. my 2c YMMV

if you want, it just works

TP-link C7

If you need horse power

x86

The wrt32x is still a good router if you use another device for wifi (e.g. ubnt unifi)

I use a wrt32x for work with WIFI but I don't have any strange wifi clients and it works perfect.

If you can find one, the ipq806x devices (Netgear R7800 & D7800, Linksys EA8500, TP-Link C2600) can also work well with recent builds.
