Hostname origin

Post by guyso »

Hi. One of the laptops on my network is showing with a Hostname which is not the PC name or any name I can relate to the laptop. This laptop is not assigned a Static IP in Gargoyle so no Hostname is being forced in the router.

Where does Gargoyle get the Hostname from for devices not assigned Static IPs?

I have tried rebooting the router to force it to get a new Hostname from the laptop but to no avail. How can I get rid of the Hostname the router has assigned to this laptop as it is confusing when trying to see who is using internet resources.

Thanks

The laptop is advertising it. It can't come from anywhere else.
Either change it on the laptop or set a static IP in gargoyle with a different name.
