Given that you've got the bits already, it probably isn't going to take a lot to try this out and find out whether using the EA8500 as an access point and relieving the WNDR3800 of WiFi duties gives the WNDR3800 sufficient margin to meet your performance and control objectives. If you don't need Gargoyle's QoS the WNDR3800 might have enough grunt for the gateway role without the WiFi.
