gl.inet mt300n-v2 as LTE access point

Post by atrac »

Hello
I need to rent an airbnb; I bought a 4g sim with 50GB and I want to set a daily limit of 1.5GB.
I successfully installed gargoyle; however, I need to buy an usb dongle. From the documentation it seems that the only compatible LET usb dongle is Huawei E3372. Is it really like that? Does this apply to the gl.inet? Thanks

Ok, well, now I bought the Huawei E3372.
However, no luck: I do not get the "3g GSM" in the list but I get instead USB modem Hilink.
lsusb returns:

Code: Select all

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 12d1:14dc Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E33372 LTE/UMTS/GSM HiLink Modem/Networkcard
The module usbserial_generic is not loaded, and if I try to unload the usbserial in order to reload with vid and pid, it fails unloading.
I also tried to add vid and pid in /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id and reboot: no luck.

I hoped I could try the usb_modeswitch, but the command is not there even if the package is installed.

Any hint?

Thanks

What's the issue? That sounds like it is working normally.

Perhaps show what is happening in the GUI (Connection->Basic page) and what you think is or is not working.

We don't package usb modeswitch, it isn't needed.

The problem was that the router was not connecting to internet.
However, now it is working, the software configuration was ok.
It turned out to be a connection problem of the usb stick to the 4G network, maybe the sim was not touching well.
BTW, is there a way to monitor the 4G quality from gargoyle interface?
Thanks

You can try 3ginfo plugin from obsy.
https://eko.one.pl/?p=openwrt-3ginfo

If it works well i would consider bringing it into the main Gargoyle repository.

sorry for asking another question... I still have problems and I start thinking that this particular LTE stick is defective; I am considering returning it.
Could you suggest another model that is compatible with gargoyle?
Thanks.

To find out more about whether your E3372 is working properly, you may want to consider trying the ROOter firmware which specialises in supporting such modems. It is also based on OpenWrt, as is Gargoyle, so if your router is supported it should be easy to flash to test your modem (don't attempt to preserve your configuration though, but make a backup of it).

Any tips on how to point to the repository
