Double Nat

Post by vineapple3332 »

I recently purchased a Sprint ZTE Warp Connect MF920VS and have it connected to a Gargoyle router. It is working very well! I'm a networking beginner and was pondering a few questions; any thoughts/answers would be appreciated.

1) Does anyone know if double NAT is unavoidable if I use a USB LTE modem?

2) It seems like the Sprint ZTE MF920VS has to remain a DHCP server; is this true? There is an option to disable it's DHCP server, but when I tried that with Rooter I received no WAN IP. I assume the same would be true for Gargoyle.

Some modems can be put into a “pure modem” mode. This disables their user interface and they can only be communicated with via serial commands over USB. Please check with your hardware supplier.

Gargoyle supports configuring modems in this mode of operation.

Otherwise, double NAT is unavoidable.
