Best Recommended Router for Gargoyle use

Post by InvisibleMan1002 »

I have been using my Buffalo wzr-hp-g300nh2 for many years now, it's finally starting to choke and I just spent a little over $100 on a new Nighthawk r7500v2 router, thinking it would be great to use with Gargoyle. I must have misread that it was supported, but finding that its a little sketchy.

Will it ever be supported fully? Seems the 5hz wifi radio is the biggest problem, but I'm not even finding a gargoyle firmware for it. Of course, it has been a long time since I have to flash a factory device so I could be easily missing something.

What is the currently recommended router to work with Gargoyle?
Is it the TP-Link Archer C7 v2 in the shop, or is there something better?

The Internet in my area can only reach speeds of 100mb at the moment, with 600mb coming soon. I would like to get a router that will handle those speeds in the future.

Thank you.

To hit 600mb you're going to have to open up your wallet about twice as much.
Look at the wrt1900acs

Thanks, Lantis.
wrt1900acs on Amazon is only $149.99.
Not much more than I just paid for the Nighthawk r7500v2.
This router was $178-35( "20OFFE3" (Exp 6/17)) = $143

wrt1900acs:

So not only is this router close to what I paid, it works much better with Gargoyle?

So I currently have in possession the Nighthawk, is it safe to say Gargoyle will not have full support for it in the near future?

Thank you,
Trey
