I had a raspberry pi so I have gone down the path of PiVPN but still can't connect from outside the network. If I change the OVPN file to the internal address of PiVPN I am able to connect. It seems like I might have some firewall issue somewhere.

Gargoyle OpenVPN works perfect

Can you draw a small network diagram?

I just need a little more information

Yeah the fact gargoyle was working perfectly prior to the nbn had me wondering. Having the same issue with the pi vpn setup has kind of confirmed it for me as an nbn or service provider problem.

I can try draw a diagram for you when I get home but my set up is quite simple - nbn box (modem) - router wndr3800 on gargoyle. I am probably wasting your time now since I don't think this is a gargoyle issue anymore

They might be blocking VPN ports?

Yeah that's all I can think of. They are new on the Australian scene and googling hasn't found anything :(

That looks like a good idea. I'll have a go at setting it up in the next day or two. Thanks for your help

@ispyisail it looks like my isp is blocking port forwarding so I think that is where my problem lies
