I can not block websites

Post by Codee »

Hi,
I am trying to block a website using the Gargoyle router, but it appears it is not working. I have the following:
Router: TL-WR1043ND with Gargoyle V1.8.1.
The Gargoyle is hooked up to my DSL modem at PORT1. PORT 4 is hooked up to my GIGABIT SWITCH, and my computer is hooked to the same gigabit switch.
Gargoyle is handling the DHCP.
It looks like everything should work, but I can still visit the blocked sites.
I can view the web performance and everything of my connected computer, but no blocking.
I also bypassed my gigabit switch and went direct to gargoyle PORT 3. No luck.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

If it's a small site you could try blocking it by IP.
If you are dealing with people that aren't tech savvy, you could use the Adblock plugin to block it at a DNS level (not foolproof)

Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.

The wiring doesn't sound right. You should have a connection from your DSL modem to the WAN port of the Gargoyle router, not any of the LAN ports. Any other device (including the switch) should be connected to one of the LAN ports of the Gargoyle router. All traffic has got to pass through the WAN port on the Gargoyle router.
