Looking to build a x86 base router with gargoyle

Post by Phil »

I have Archer C7 with gargoyle and I love it... I would like to build one base on x86 platform. What I'm looking to buy is this
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06VVRF1H3. Just wondering if it would work with the official release of x86 from the download section.

Any suggestion?

Impossible to say.
You're almost certainly better off building your own anyway.

I bought https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06VVRF1H3 for 325$, WIFI and 4GB of ram. Nicely build. I have Ubuntu running on it for now but I really would like to have gargoyle on it. I tried the official release but it stop at "Waiting for root device /dev/mtdblock0..."

The post to tried a custom build from http://lantisproject.com/gargoyle_custom/x86/ that still doesn't work.

Might have to do my own custom build... In Ubuntu, it says it's a bcm43224 card, is it supported?

It appears to be a part of the brcmsmac package (through the power of google...) which won't be included in either image by default.
You will need to do a custom build as suggested.

If been trying to make my x86 own image. The image get created, I used windows rufus to burn the .img to a usb key and boot up.

I start to load and it stop with this last msg:
jffs2: notice: (5396) jffs2_build_xattr_subsystem: complete building xattr subsystem, 0 of xdatum (0 unchecked, 0 orphan) and 0 of xref (0 dead, 0 orphan) found.

Then that's it. It stay there. there no way for me check what failed since it doesn't give a command prompt

I would like you to check if my config but I can send it via the form, I don't have a file share.

Just for info, can you select more than one firmware to be in the built? Since I don't not what intel driver would work for my rig, I loaded them all, could It be the problem?

I found the problem, I think. I tried my image on a different computer and it looks to be working. On the working computer, when I press enter the prompt show up. On my rig the keyboard is frozen. That lead me to believe there some thing in my image that it doesn't like and crap out.

Back to drawing board...

Yes I did. I just realize I always remote in via windows. Maybe I should try login on locally and see if that make a difference... The error dump has some references' to "RDP".

As for my x86 img, I tried on a laptop and it work's. On the industrial pc, while it's booting up I'm pressing the numlock key and it turn on and off, later, near the end of the boot sequence, it stop functioning. That lead me to believe that something load up and freeze it up. This will be hard to troubleshoot...

Finally getting somewhere... Got my command prompt. But Still can't get the Intel I211 adapter to come online. There is no eth0 and eth1 when booting up. I'm not an expert in Linux so I don't know how to verify if there a problem with the driver.

I need help. Is the Intel I211 supported? I have all Intel firmware package selected. How do I verify or display all HW if the driver has a problem...

How do I fix this?
