Garygoyle on D-Link 853 A3

Post by GalacticLion7 »

Garygoyle does support DIR-815. I'm looking for DIR-853 A3 in the list as well, which is given by my internet provider.

After having a look through the hardware online and in my own device, I noticed that it is different from the DIR-853 A1, which uses a 16MB flash. Mine is a 128MB NAND instead.

Here is a look on the inside:

The CPU and Wi-Fi modules don't seem to be that different to the one already supported. Could support for this router be added?

Please correct me if you know otherwise, but it does not appear to be supported by OpenWrt. This is a prerequisite for Gargoyle support.

It appears someone had a go and got it working somewhat, but never submitted the patches for official inclusion.

So if you want to custom build your own firmware and use that person's work to get the device support, Gargoyle should be possible.
If you want proper support, you need to chase getting the device officially supported first.
