Are you talking about the v2? Did you ever figure out what was going on? I know historically there's been an issue with this, but I thought 1.9.1 supported it.

Hi mate it was the c7 v2 and it got fixt by a firstboot and reflashing. It now runs sweet as a nut. Just don't save settings if upgrading from 1.9.0

Try both but doesn't help. Still back to factory default after power cycle.
Revert back to 1.6.2 and configurations retain even after power cycle.

It's for if you're stuck with the WNDR3800CH running Charter factory firmware.

Just wanted to share my experience with my 1043ND v2.1. I made a backup and updated without preserving settings and that works OK, but the moment I restored my backup, the router would enter a reboot loop. Had to use a failsafe reset to get it going again. It looks like I have to migrate my settings manually :(

Anyone hazard a guess on why this happens? I'm using quite a few features, mainly DHCP reservation, QOS uplink and downlink rules.

Seems like I'm gonna have to re-configure my router from scratch... sigh

You didn't mention which version you came from, but the settings were most likely not compatible.
Preserve settings is EXACTLY THE SAME as making a backup and then restoring it later.
If one was to fail (which there are many reports of this) then the other surely will as well.

You can manually restore certain settings (e.g. DHCP reservations, QOS rules) but not all of them (e.g. Network and wireless settings)
