I searched the forums for a thread on this but didn't find anything really.

I think this could be a two part project. First we support guest network on a separate subnet, this allows users to do quotas and throttling which is what was missing for most of us. (We can do a how-to document for newcomers)

Hooking the functionality into Qos would be a bit more complex from what I've seen but not impossible. Based on how well people take to the first part (with tutorial) we may not even need to do this.

If this sounds good, I can start working on it soon.

Using Gargoyle for few years now. I'm running Guest WiFi on my TL-WDR3600 v1 on 1.7.2. using a separate network interface/subnet which allows me to control the guest bandwidth using qos.

If there are no compelling technical reasons why this functionality was not included in Gargoyle and no one is already working on introducing this feature I would like to contribute back to the project by working on this.
There was some serious discussion about this. From my understanding QOS and other features are embedded deep and It was going to be a big job.

On the plus side Eric was keen so i'm going to suggest any contribution more than welcome.

Eric has a google group for admin's, devs etc

You probably need to get on that list.

I didn't see that before updating from 1.7.1. Did't brick my router though.

I was the guinea pig, should have waited till others to report successful before flashing it. What a shame, although bought the 1043nd v1.7 few years ago but only started to use it this May.

Thank you Gargoyle Developers :-)

Device Name:Gargoyle
Gargoyle Version:1.8.0
Model:TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1
Device Configuration:Gateway
Memory Usage:36.6MB / 123.4MB (29.7%)
Connections:181/4096
CPU Load Averages:0.33 / 0.19 / 0.17 (1/5/15 minutes)

Utilizing: PPPoE, WiFi, Guest Network, DDNS, Port fwd, Quotas, QoS, USB Storage
Plugins (on USB) : logread, adblock, TOR

After flashing to 1.8 I configured the Internet connection and loaded the three plugins onto an external USB before restoring my configuration from 1.7.2

With TOR enabled I am able to load duckduckgo at http://3g2upl4pq6kufc4m.onion/

I am broadcasting a Guest network on 2.4GHz only, with WPA2 PSK. From time to time (2-24hrs) this Guest network stops broadcasting despite having 4-6 wifi client connected. The primary wifi SSID continues to operate correctly (Dual Band 20MHz ch11 & 40MHz (2nd channel above) ch157).
/etc/init.d/network restart resolves the issue temporarily
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?
TL-WDR3600 : Gargoyle 1.9.0 : NBN FixedWireless

After reading comments, I took a deep breath and installed 1.80 on my TL-WR1043ND v2. The installed gargoyle version was 1.72.
I preserved the settings and the upgrade went well. I have not yet discovered problems so thank you for this new version :D
