i flashed with 1.61. But then wifi started to act weird on my ipad and android phone. Web pages half loading or timeouts. DNS resolution not working, etc. Cable connection kept working fine, only wifi was having problems.

I reverted to my old 1.54 and everything went back to normal.

I have a Wndr3700 V1.

I am back on all my tplink 1043nd and wrd4300 to 1.6.0. necessary client bridge mode does really not work on these routers with 1.6.1.

The no dhcp issue I had with 1.6.0 I was able to solve with the line :
option dhcp 'ip_of_dhcpserver'
in /overlay/etc/network.

Hmmm make sense. Will try that. Hope it will fix the wifi issue.

I'm having problems getting port forwarding to work with 1.6.1

Can anybody else confirm this problem?

EDIT" Nothing wrong with port forwarding

Anyone managed to get Gargoyle running in VirtualBox? I can't get it to work.

TL-WR1043ND v1.8 requires reboot in order for wireless to connect using 1.6.1 (i.e. every time I wake up my laptop I need to reboot router). Problem did not exist with 1.5.11 (never used 1.6.0). Everything else works as expected after the upgrade. The wireless signal is broadcasting (ssid is seen), but I get a "timeout" error if I try to force connect.

I also got this problem
Wi-fi was stable on my TL-WR1043ND v1.8 with Gargoyle 1.6.0, on 1.6.1 i cannot connect my phone anymore to the router, i also get timeout and I need to reboot the router to fix it
I had a pretty similar problem after upgrading my TL-WR941ND-v3.1 from 1.6.0 to 1.6.1. Wifi-connected devices would get dropped every few hours and were unable to reconnect until the router was reset. Going back to 1.6.0 (with the preserve settings option) fixed this.
