Version 1.5.11 - Translations

This release has multiple new, major features. Gargoyle 1.5.11 introduces multi-language "i18n" support and will likely be the last release before the next stable release, 1.6.0.

An independent translation into Polish has been available for a while, but this release brings support for integrating multiple languages, and selection of the preferred language into the default firmware.

Beyond the new multi-language support, there is now a distinction between large USB routers (those with at least 64M of memory and 16M of flash) and other, smaller USB routers. Support for Tor has been removed from the smaller USB routers. Tor can still be installed as a package on these routers, but is no longer in the default binary, as it takes up so much space. Large USB routers still contain the Tor package by default and now include a media server (DLNA) and support for USB web cameras as well.

New in 1.5.11:
  • Support for multiple languages and translations ("i18n support")
  • Relatively complete support for English, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Chinese languages
  • Minimal support for Portugese and Arabic lanaguages (these translations still need a lot of work)
  • Minidlna media server included on routers with at least 64M of memory and at least 16M of flash
  • Webcam support for routers with at least 64M of memory and at least 16M of flash
  • Fixes installation of kernel module packages via gpkg
  • Tor can now be configured to save files to a USB drive instead of storing everything in memory
  • Tor removed from binaries for smaller router with less than 64M of memory or less than 16M of flash
  • Tor version updated 0.2.4.17-rc
  • PPTP plugin now available
  • Update OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment branch code to SVN r38347 to include latest wireless fixes
  • Two new themes available: Horchata and Dementoid
  • Updated to use latest version of dropbear SSH server
  • Add favicon to webui

If you are using 1.5.11 with a non-English language, not all the text will be translated due to a bug.

If you are on the ar71xx platform, this hotfix will fix the issue. Instructions are included:

For anyone who needs language packs offline, here are English, Polish, Russian, Spanish & SimplifiedChinese. Arabic & Portuguese are very basic.

Question

I have flashed my TP-Link 2543 with Gargoyle v.1.5.11, but I can't install neither PPTP plugin or TOR plugin. I attached an USB drive and I changed plugin ROOT, but without success. What I'm doing wrong?

Thank you!

Version 1.5.11 installed successfully on WNDR3700v2. However, access to European channels (12, 13) is still not implemented. A plugin to activate them would most useful. Any chance this problem will be fixed soon?
