Yes, met the the same issue and resolved the same way, by restoring default settings.
Restoring settings from version 1.5.7 is not correct. Made everything manually or with files comparison and editing the default' ones.
there are many dfferences, not only OpenVPN.

I have the same issue with my Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH2.
I was able to get the WiFi turned back on by going to connection and changing the channel and saving changes.
Then it started back up.
Had the same issue here as well (WZR-HP-G300NH). I got mine working again by leaving it unplugged for about five minutes or so, and then plugging it back in. Resetting the router via the web interface did not work. Also, I was not able to restore my previous settings. After I tried, the router became unresponsive and I wound up having to use failsafe mode to get it going again.

Everything seems to be working ok now though, so no biggie.

Stupid question:

Where do we go to get plugins? I understand the feature is relatively new (at least in terms of the GUI) so I imagine there aren't many available.

Still, I thought I'd ask.

I'm not John but have the same issue with public IP.
As I understand there is no route to Internet through your private router (Gargoyle) when OpenVPN is connected.
Check yours routes with Net Swiss Tool. When OpenVPN is connected your traffic goes through default gateway which is still primary connection gateway.

1. you need to set WAN first before using plugins , and need a reboot while themes installed ,then you can enjoy themes!

2. pppoe bug since 1.5.8 not fixed yet . I still cant use pppoe Reconnect Mode by "Connect on demand"
