Gargoyle, OpenWRT, and DD-WRT are all opensource and
donate-ware (donate if you feel you want to help the project/devs)
This is NOT a full-time job for the developers, they do this because
they want a firmware that they can modify to their needs, to help
out the public with better firmware than provided by the manufacturer,
and hopefully for the fun of it as well.
Their are MILLIONS of users out there, and maybe thousands of
developers working on these firmwares, including manufacturers, so
it is very hard for them to support every single thing that can cause
issues in router firmwares. They do usually fix issues, but it can
take time and a lot of testing to re-produce the same issues on
their end. If you cannot have patience or do your own testing or
try and resolve the issues yourself, you should not be flashing
third party firmware - stick with the OEM firmware.
