Core should be the same between those 2 versions.

On your WNDR3700 - you would lose TOR & this feature from 1.5.1:

5GHz and 2.4GHz SSIDS displayed seperately on overview page

If you don't care about that - 1.4.4 should work fine
I don't really care about those. But I need the capability to install packages though. I guess I just need to downgrade to 1.4.4.

Thanks for answering my questions.

I finally managed to upgrade from 1.3.7 to 1.4.4 on my WRT54GL v1.1
I don't use wireless but pretty much all else and so far it is flawless and amazingly only using 7.6MB / 13.1MB (58%) whereas previous was pretty much maxed out in low 90%

I could not update to 1.3.8 and subsequent versions due to ram and performance issues, but all seems sorted now. Also thanks to @mix for pointing out to use "mtd -r write ..." to do the upgrade as opposed to me previously always doing upgrades from the web ui.

So kudos to Eric and others for all your good work, much appreciated.

WNDR3700 from 1.5.0 to 1.5.1.
Restored backup after update and Tor enabled by default (disabled before restore) and can't be disabled. Tried this multiple times and all same.
Fresh install without restore and all fine...

I tried tftp flashing 1.5.1 on my Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH (A2 A0 revision) but it never boots. I left it for 20 minutes or so but the red DIAG light never stops blinking.

Though I swear I've seen peoples signatures stating they're running Gargoyle on this revision... are there further sub revisions of A2 A0?

Ver 1.5.1
TP-Link 1042nd
Tor = disabled
3g = disabled
Nothing plugged into USB port
Router has no connection to the internet

Wireless "WPA2" fails after x amount of time. Router works fine with "open" and "WPA". At first I thought the problem was with 3g but after some tests I have found the problem with WPA2.

To test I just did a simple wireless ping test "ping 192.168.1.1 -t"

If you leave it for about ten minutes (approx) you will start to loose packets and after 30 minutes the connection with drop and never reconnect

Do you use this how-to

I didn't notice there was a wiki page for the WZR-HP-G300NH, thanks. The first time I flashed I noticed there was a tftp version of the firmware, so I tried that. After you pointed out the mtd method (from the wiki), I tried that several times but didn't have any luck.

For what it's worth, Buffalo's latest pro firmware is DD-WRT 17798 and it's working decently on my A2 A0 device. I haven't messed with the transmission power or frequency yet, so I can't comment on 40Mhz, etc.

There is now a fix for the opkg bug committed to the git repository. You can expect the 1.5.2 release with a fix for this within a week or so.
