Wifi Channel Scanner Plugin

Post by Lantis »

Spectrum Analyser (Wifi Scanner) Plugin - 1.2.0 (new gui builds only!)
You will require this until the language plugin is updated by Gargoyle:
http://lantisproject.com/gargoyle_plugi ... nglish-EN/

Will scan for wireless networks around you and graphically show you which channels are most congested. You can then choose to put your wifi network on a clear or less busy channel.

You can choose which band to scan, 2.4 or 5GHz.
The scale of the graph auto resizes the vertical axis (signal strength) so that the graph is always easy to read.
There is a legend at the bottom so that you can identify which network is which, and if you hover over the colour of the network, it will highlight it on the graph for you.

Please provide feedback/bug reports in this thread.

Install
Not yet hosted on Gargoyle. Please use lantisproject.com
- Refresh plugins
- Install "Graphical WiFi scanning support for Gargoyle (Full)"
NOTE: Only use the "Full" version if you have plenty of space on your router or you are using an external plugin root. Otherwise use "Graphical WiFi scanning support for Gargoyle (Minimal)"
NOTE: Using the "minimal" version requires your router to have an internet connection.

Manual Uninstall of Plugin
So you want to uninstall the plugin, but clicking uninstall in the GUI does nothing?
  • 1. Navigate to /plugin_root/usr/lib/opkg/info/plugin-gargoyle-spectrum-analyser.list
every file listed in that file is related to the plugin and should be deleted.
  • 3. execute the post-removal script from the same folder
    "sh /plugin_root/usr/lib/opkg/info/plugin-gargoyle-spectrum-analyser.postrm"
  • 4. remove all the files from /plugin_root/usr/lib/opkg/info related to plugin-gargoyle-spectrum-analyser
  • 5. open the status file at /plugin_root/usr/lib/opkg and remove the entry for spectrum_analyser. If it is the only entry, save it as a blank file, do not delete it.

You should now no longer have the spectrum analyser plugin in the GUI, and if you check the plugin list it should be listed as uninstalled.
I'd like to thank D3 js for their wonderful graphing library. You can find their work here

I could do two versions. One that will and one that won't.
My preference is for larger devices with USB support to fit the plugin.
But... i could make a version which called a file from online (say hosted on my server).

I'll think about it :)

damn this looks amazing but if i had to choose i would rather have the table that shows current upload and download used together and maybe a sorting option (now they are under qos upload and qos download), because i can scan the saturation of channels with my tablet and i would use the feature only when i first setup router, but current internet usage table would be usefull every single day. wanted to flash the latest ispy version to see how it works on a 4mb router but am witing for the next version, because i think its close 8-) .
anyways i love gargoyle! best router software for gaming. :geek:
