Thanks ! - upgraded WRT32X (router) and WRT1900ACS (access point)

The 5GHz wouldn't come up on the WRT32X (hostapd failed to start device) until I reset the channel to 36, waited for it to come up and then reset it to 100, then it worked fine - the 5GHz has always seemed buggy on this bit of kit though unless I use a non-DFS channel (not possible if you have a Sky-Q mesh in the house) so don't think its anything to do with this build.

thanks for the heads up.
had the same issue in my WRT1900ACV1. this was a similar issue a few releases ago i believe.

another issue i encountered, usually after upgrading the firmware and log in and setup the wifi i get an option to use world wide or US. this time after upgrading i only had the 2 options of world wide and undefined. any thoughts ispyisail?

If you reboot the router the undefined might go away. You can also delete/tmp/cached_basic_vars and refresh the page to achieve the same.

another issue i encountered is that the tx power for this beta release is different from before. i remember that before when using the same channels i would be able to use tx power of 30 as default. now it is defaulting to 20. :?:

What is the max power for your country?

https://w.wol.ph/2015/08/28/maximum-wif ... r-country/

Short overview of the ETSI standard:
– 2.4 GHz: 100 mW (20 dBm)
– 5 GHz channel 36 to 64: 200 mW (23 dBm)
– 5 GHz channel 100 to 140: 1000 mW (30 dBm)
– 5 GHz channel 155 to 171: 4000 mW (36 dBm)

20 indicates that your country code is set to the default setting, not the US

Here on the forum (viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11956&p=52795#p52764) has been dealt with many times - the reason is the locked performance of the hardware.

Code: Select all

strings /dev/mtd3|sed -ne 's/^cert_region=//p'
