The old device I upgraded and did not preserve settings.

The new device had WD factory firmware installed so it of course Gargoyle was a new install using the factory file.

I’m not sure exactly what a fail safe reset is...

Both devices were unusable with the power light blinking. I could not access 192.168.1.1, the computer was not recognizing a LAN connection.

I had the to put the devices in recovery mode (with device powered off, press reset turn on device holding reset for 15 seconds then go to 192.168.1.1 and was able to flash another firmware)

As I said they r currently working with no problem with 1.11.0 installed on the one.

That has fixed it. It is quite typical to need to reinstall your Atheros router's factory firmware, for cleaning-out accumulated errors and for updating firmware. You could consider it like refurbishing, and especially in the case of an Atheros router, like an oil change for the car.

Hello,

I'm looking to install the kmod-usb-hid driver on this rc for my WNDRMACv2. How best can I find this driver? In looking through the packages list for AR71XX, I don't see it available.

Thanks,
Netgear WNDR3700 v1
Netgear WNDRMAC v2
TP-Link MR3020 v1.8
TP-Link WR743ND v1

It hasn’t been built, you would need to custom build it.

hello, I just installed RC5 on my archer c7 v2. I'm new with flashing alt firmware, but trying to learn all I can.

I was browsing the wiki and was interested in adding the email reports plugin. I searched the forum & found a few threads on it but I have not been able to add the plugin.

here's what I've tried:

Code: Select all

root@Gargoyle:~# opkg install plugin-gargoyle-email-notifications
ERROR: No package named plugin-gargoyle-email-notifications found, try updating your package lists

Code: Select all

root@Gargoyle:~# wget -O /tmp/email.ipk link removed
Downloading 'link removed'
Connecting to 172.217.4.238:80
Redirected to /storage/gargoyle/plugin-gargoyle-email-notifications-ssl.ipk on link removed
Redirected to /storage/gargoyle/plugin-gargoyle-email-notifications-ssl.ipk on link removed
Connection error: Invalid SSL certificate
any help on what I'm doing wrong? thx!

Dear Friends

Still on 1.6.2, because of Bandwidth use - I own 250/20Mbps and on newer FW versions I cannot use it 100%, download is much lower then 250Mbps.

FW 1.11.0 has been fixed for this issue, or still it's not resolved?

I would like to ask another question:

I used QoS yesterday on 1.6.2 and when I used it, I could only achieve 120Mbps. When I turn it off, I have no problem and 250Mpbs. I have 99% for Fast rule and 1% for Slow rule, no limit for Fast, only for Slow.

Is it a problem with performance of my TL-WR1043ND? Is it to weak or something?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Sincerely
VAMET

@valmet

It's a CPU problem.

You need a faster router.

Newer firmware might be slower

@omj

You need to manually as a source untill it's officially released.
