Do you have any problems with using Cloudflare DNS at 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 (to test) if this works OK then is a problem with you filters?

If using SafeDNS for adblocking then look at https://github.com/quidsup/notrack if you got a small spare linux system

Thanks. Got it all sorted, it was a problem with my settings on SafeDNS. It's a very nice service but the setup procedure is screwy. There are settings you need to put a certain way that don't make any sense, but at least it's working now.
