guyso wrote:Hello. I am upgrading from version 1.9.X (Built 20160924-1943 git@093be12) to this one. I have upgraded my spare router without preserving settings. While I can enter the basic settings OK, I have a lot Static IPs assigned to MAC Addresses and it would save a lot of time and effort if I did not have to re-enter all these. I can use WinSCP so is there a file I can copy from my existing Gargoyle version to the new router version to avoid having the re-enter all the Static IP data?

Similarly to above I have a number of Port Forwarding rules set up. Is there another file I can copy to transfer these directly?

Last but not least I have some restrictions set up. Is there another file I can copy for these.

Looking forward to trying the new interface and version. Forever grateful to those who put in the work developing and maintaining this fantastic firmware.
/etc/hosts
/etc/ethers

To restore the restrictions and port forwarding you can bring across the firewall config but you need to apply the settings into the firewall.
I don't really recommend this, but if you want to try it you would probably copy it over, then modify 1 setting in each in the GUI, then hit save to apply them.

I offer zero support for this method.

I think those elements of the UI are fine. As stated, as your screen changes size, so do the parts of the UI. They'll also rearrange themselves if it gets small enough.

Graphs are ok in my opinion, but the BW_Distribution graph (all of the pie charts) are too big. That being said, my change there was overruled.

Full screen things go side by side
half screen they line up under each other but the menu is still visible
small screen they line up under each other and the menu slides away

Thank you Lantis, I will enter the Firewall and Port Forwarding manually as these are the relatively easy ones.

Even so I would still like to move the MAC to IP settings over by transferring a file if possible as these are the most labour intensive.

Is the file
/etc/hosts
the correct file as there does not appear to be any MAC addresses in this file.

As per my original post, you'll need both of these files.

Hosts contains the "friendly names" mapped to the IP addresses
Ethers contains the IP addresses mapped to the MAC addresses

putting them together gets you the mapping of "friendly names" to MAC addresses

Sorry Lantis did not read you post properly, I do apologise.

I will move both the

/etc/hosts
/etc/ethers

files over.

Thank you again for your work in development and in assisting everyone with their questions.

Eek! That's too bad.

Here's the old/new versions (unless the browser is pretty much maxed out):
