Mac address list with names

Post by domino1352 »

When creating entries for a restriction list could you add an extra field with a comment so i can associate a name..

Alternately could we make a table of mac addresses and names that then could be used as a source for populating fields in the firewall section btw fantastic product

+1 for migrating the use of MAC Addresses (if i read the above correctly)
(and the "labeling" scheme) would be VERY Nice indeed.

Especially using MAC#'s instead of static/IP base for the individual IP bandwidth Quota settings... please implement. ;)

THANKS for the Great work!

Yes I believe you have interpretted it correctly and yes it has been implemented. You can play with it now if you like from
https://github.com/nworbnhoj/gargoyle/b ... d#gargoyle

But @Eeric is working thru the code check as we speak so hopefully it will show up in an @isyisail beta build soon

Great. I upgraded to that RAW link. flawless. But maybe i am not understanding the previous&my post.. the bandwidth Quota seems to require an IP.. (not a MAC#), i would love to see that feature. (using MAC#'s instead of IP's in the Bandwidth_Quota Selection.

Or am I missing something? :) (very possible;)

Thanks, and Cheers.

You should be able to create a known-device which gives a name to a MAC address; and create a device-group which gives a name to a collection of know-devices. Once this is done you should be able to set up a quota for a known-device-name or a device-group-name.

So (if this all works correctly) you cannot assign a quota to a MAC directly (as you asked) but you can assign a quota to a known-device-name which is hopefully more meaningful and easier to work with.

Need a bit more info
can add entries into the known-devices table?
can you add entries into the device-groups table?
what happens when you click save?
what happens when you save and then return to the dhcp page?

sometimes Gargoyle does not save when your Gargoyle session has timed out. Simply login again and then reenter the config and try saving again?
