Keep the IPA thru a firmware upgrade

Post by rfdude »

Had no trouble upgrading to 1.3.3 on my Asus W500 P remotely that is the gateway at an RV camp. IP access for the campe is via cellular HSPA data modem.

True to the warning, the upgrade wipes the configuration and defaults to factory. It would be icing on the cake if the gateway static IPA were to make it through the upgrade rather than defaulted. That would allow the upgrade remotely.

Not a big issue... just icing....

I know people do it, but it really is not recommended.

Any upgrade is supposed to be performed over the LAN.

Wireless upgrade always has more inherent risks due to TX/RX
errors much more likely to happen than during a wired upgrade.

Unfortunately, I don't think this would ever happen.
